Reports to: Director of Student Support & Special Programs

 

 

Position Overview: The 21st Century ACE program is a grant funded after school program designed to align with school day activities to improve academic performance, school day attendance, promote positive behavior, increase graduation and promotion rates, and provide college and career readiness. The ACE 21st Century Family Engagement Specialist will be an active participant in the campus community and leadership team.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree in Education, Human Development & Family Studies, Social Work, or related field

- Knowledge of after school or youth programs

- Experience in working with adults in an education or group setting

- Experience in working with at-risk populations

- Knowledge of community resources, social services, and relevant regulations.

- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to demonstrate proficiency in computer and technology skills

- Possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and have reliable transportation

- Ability to pass a fingerprint based background check under TEA regulations - paid at own expense.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

- Bilingual ability in English and Spanish

- Previous experience in Adult & Community Education

Program Service Delivery:

 Engage families through phone calls, conferences, and coordination with student support personnel to monitor attendance and program participation.

 Design campus family engagement activities that support student academic achievement.

 Coordinate with district personnel to implement Parenting Partners curriculum at ACE centers

 Meet contract obligations by obtaining qualified participants by prescribed deadlines.

 Act as a liaison between the program and families, maintaining open lines of communication.

 

Parent & Program Relationship Building:

 Establish and maintain positive relationships with families, gaining their trust and confidence.

 Conduct one-on-one meetings with families to understand their needs, concerns, and goals.

 Foster a sense of community among families through support groups, parent workshops, and networking events.

 

Campus Coordination:

 Collaborate with principal and appropriate student support staff to target ACE families

 Provide ACE program orientation and training for families

 Monitor and document family attendance and participation for each family event.

 Administer Family Surveys to evaluate program effectiveness.

 Disseminate information about ACE programs, resources, and opportunities to families.

 

File & Data Management:

 Collect registration, demographic, and academic information for each identified adult participant and enter into the TEAL database.

 Maintain data quality by monitoring files, maintaining proper documentation, and reviewing data for accuracy and errors.

 Maintain files to ensure program compliance with TEA guidelines

 Assist in tracking and analyzing data related to family engagement efforts, contributing to program evaluation and improvement.

 

Integrative & Administrative Services:

 Coordinate services with program partners and providers to provide quality activities and services to meet participant needs.   Provide volunteer and community partner orientation regarding Harlandale ISD policies and school-based services.

 Provide information, training, and tools to help families become effective advocates for their own needs.

 

Position Funding: This is a 5 year grant funded position. There is no guarantee for future employment beyond the completion of the grant after the 2025-2026 school year.
