TITLE:                       SPECIAL EDUCATION LIAISON
 

REPORTS TO:         CAMPUS PRINCIPAL / SPECIAL EDUCATION DIRECTOR OR SUPERVISOR

 

 Status:                       Exempt

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  - Texas Teacher's Certificate

-   Bachelor's Degree or higher

-   Special Education Certification (optional)

-   Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may

     find appropriate and acceptable.

 

 

SUPERVISES:          Any assigned teaching assistant(s)

Instructional Management

 

1.      Serves in an instructional capacity to students identified as needing special education services.

 

2.         Meets with campus LPAC representative to determine instructional programming and assessment for Bilingual/Special Education students.

 

3.      Assists Department Chair in tracking students with behavioral issues.

 

4.      Assists Department Chair in monitoring IEP/BIP progress reports.

 

 

Compliance

 

1.      Monitors the timelines/paperwork for all ARDs.

 

2.      Sends ARD notices and monitors parent receipt.

 

3.      Acts as a resource for compliance in ARD committee meetings (e.g. annuals and reviews).

 

4.      Records ARD proceedings according to guidelines.

 

5.      Completes all other ARD data/forms.

 

6.      Notifies non-attending parent of ARD proceedings, sends copies, gets signature(s).

 

7.      Places all ARD forms in the student eligibility folders.

 

8.      Assists Department Chair with temporary ARDs.

 

9.      Conducts transition ARDs.

 

Administrative Management

 

1.      Keeps campus administration informed and current on assessment decisions for students.

 

2.      Assists with and serves as a resource for pre-ARD staffings.

 

3.      Brings placement concerns to the attention of the supervisor.

 

4.      Coordinates with Department Chair to arrange for departmental meetings to disseminate and collect special education information.

 

5.      Works as a team with the supervisor to assist with the collection of departmental data as required for special education reports.
