Job Title: Special Education Clerk (HS)

Primary Purpose:

Responsible for special education students scheduling, monitoring, and preparing all ARD notices for special education students at/or enrolling at the high schools.  The position requires legal knowledge in processing all reports and confidentiality of all students’ files.


Qualifications:


Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets and databases, and do word processing

Proficient in keyboarding, 10-key numerical data entry, and file maintenance

Ability to meet established deadlines

Above average oral and written communication skills

Knowledge in special education laws and regulations

 

Experience:
Three years clerical experience


Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

Records and Reports

 

1. Welcome all members of the ARD Committee and prepare all legal documents for the ARD meeting.

2. Schedule special education students into classes.

3. Assist in monitoring student grades.

4. Schedule all ARD meetings.

5. Receive all incoming calls to Special Education Department.

6. Maintain required students’ confidential Special Education records.

7. Assist Special Education Counselor, and/or diagnostician by preparing students records and arranging

   meetings.

8. Add new students and any schedule changes of existing students

9. File all forms.

10. Type memos for Special Education Department Head.

11. Compile, maintain, file, and distribute all reports, records, and other documents as required following established     

     procedures.

12. Keeps informed of and complies with state and district policies and regulations.

13. Assist in campus office as needed.

14. Participates in training sessions, faculty meetings, and special events, as required.

15. Maintain confidentiality.

16. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

17. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Campus Principal or designee.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
