SUMMARY: Provide for individual assessments and development of educational plans; serve on the Admission, Review and Dismissal Committee as a member of the Comprehensive Pupil Appraisal Team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Educational Diagnostician Certificate
- Master’s Degree
- Such alternatives to the above as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
School Climate:
1. Facilitates effective communication with administration, teachers, staff, students, parents and community
School Improvement:
2. Actively supports the efforts of others to achieve district goals and objectives and the campus performance objectives (academic excellence indicators)
3. Monitors the student achievement data and interprets, reports, and acts on results
Instructional Management:
4. Plans, implements, and evaluates instructional programs with teachers and principals, including learning objectives, instructional strategies, and assessment techniques
5. Accepts referrals for pupil appraisal and special assignments from supervisors
6. Selects and administers appropriate diagnostic instruments and techniques and organizes appraisal data into an educational plan
7. Prepares and submits report of appraisal results to appropriate supervisor and administrator
8. Serves as a member of the Admission, Review and Dismissal Committee; attends meetings to provide appraisal findings
9. Serves as liaison between the Special Education Department and schools assigned
10. Coordinates with other professionals and agencies on matters pertaining to providing services to the student
Personnel Management:
11. Assists special education and/or campus staff, as appropriate, in securing resources to work with students tested
Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management:
12. Implements the policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and the local board policy in the area(s) supervised
13. Defines the program needs in the budget development process
Student Management:
14. Recommends appropriate student management techniques to be included in the t tested student’s Individual Educational Plan
Professional Growth and Development:
15. Seeks, accepts, and responds to evaluative feedback from colleagues and utilizes such information to improve performance
16. Keeps abreast with the profession through participating in a variety of professional development activities (e.g., professional journals, using audio/video tapes, attending workshops and conferences)
School/Community Relations:
17. Serves as liaison between the campus/district and community resources in getting help for children with special needs
18. Observes professional and ethical standards in accordance with generally accepted community standards and the Texas Education Agency Code of Ethics
Other:
1. Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Special Education.
